Doctoral Programme
Routes & Programme Duration
- Full Time 3-5 years
- Part Time 4-6 years
Full time:
Candidates are required to work for their PhD on Campus. They need to spend 40 hours a week on research.
Part time:
Candidates can work for their PhD at their work place (either in Bangalore or any place within India). They need to spend 15 hours a week on research. It is preferable that the Scholar has a qualified supervisor/ advisor at his work place.
Eligibility
Minimum of a second class masters degree in engineering from a good college/university. Research and Research Groups at SIAS
One of the main activities at SIAS is academic research. The academic research is organised in to following focused areas. Normally, these groups work on research problems with funding from various agencies. The faculty members of these groups supervise Ph.D. theses also. The faculty members of these groups are assisted by other academic faculty of allied specialisation areas and research assistants. Signal Image Processing Area of Research
Digital Signal Processing, Adaptive Signal Processing, Biomedical Signal Processing, Medical Image Processing, Bioinstrumentation. Signal Processing and Communication Engineering Area of Research
Wireless Communication, Optoelectronics, RF. The main focus of this group is Wireless Systems Engineering VLSI Systems Design Area of Research
DIGITAL DESIGN, ANALOG DESIGN, LOW POWER and ASIC DESIGN.
B. Training and Life long Learning Programme- Department
Semcon Institute of Advanced Studies offers various training programmes in order to improve the skills of engineering and other graduates to make them industry ready. School offers ACTP-Advanced Certificate Training programme, basically for fresh graduates. Module based training courses for those who would like to acquire skills in specific areas called MTP. In addition, 3-5 days duration corporate training courses, proficiency course can be availed.
Under this programme SIAS offers certificate courses awarded by the Institute. Outline of the Programme
Advanced Certificate Training Programmes are value addition programmes. Greater emphasis is given for the delegate’s skill development on high-end, industry standard software and hardware tools.
These programmes are meant for:
- Fresh engineering graduates who would like to acquire industrial problem solving skills as well as advanced knowledge in concerned engineering areas.
- Working engineers who would like to change their career into advanced engineering areas by acquiring additional knowledge and specialized skills.
- For those graduates who would like to acquire additional knowledge than acquired at undergraduate level before proceeding into postgraduate degree programmes at the Indian or overseas universities.
